Another Change of Plans
The rain was with us again this morning so we opted for a new plan. The Adventure Cycling map has an interesting loop just outside of Tillamook so we decided to give the Three Capes Scenic Loop a try. It was a good decision. We had plenty of scenery and rain on the 20 mile ride. Great Blue Herons were roosting in the bay not far from early morning fisherman. We did a bit of climbing and had a glimpse of rocks and surf below. We made our way back to Tillamook and hopped in the car and drove to Pacific City, not really a city, but it is home to one of Oregon's intriguing haystacks. After that we drove on to Lincoln City, this place is more like a city. We took a room at the Sea Echo Motel, very affordable with a slight view of the ocean. Then it was on to the more mundane chore of laundry. After laundry we found one Oregon's pub type institutions, McMenamin's. They are ale houses scattered around the greater Porland area. If you ever pass by one they are great for a burger and beer. Tomorrow the plan is to drive to Newport and start from there. We hope to get in a good 50 miles from Newport, We'll see how that works out.
